Biography

As a native of Arundel, Maine, Chris loves where he was raised but hates the long winters. After graduating from Thornton Academy, Chris migrated south to Conway, South Carolina. While attending Coastal Carolina University, Chris was the President of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, Student Government Senator, and a member of the Mock Trial Team. Chris volunteered more than 150 hours for several charities, including: Miracle League, PUSH America, GAP weekend, and Fostering Hope.

Chris began his legal career as an intern in the felony division for Horry County Assistant Solicitor, J. Scott Hucks. Chris participated in legal research and writing. Chris gained valuable exposure to witness interviews, investigations, court appearances, and several jury trials to verdict. Most notably, Chris assisted Mr. Hucks’ jury trial preparation for a case where the Defendant was convicted of first-degree murder and first-degree burglary. The Defendant was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. To this day, Mr. Hucks continues to be a great mentor to Chris.

After undergrad, Chris attended law school at Florida Coastal School of Law. While attending law school, Chris worked in several areas of the law. Most notably, Chris worked for the Deputy General Counsel of a Jacksonville based, publicly traded company. Chris worked daily on legal issues and transactional drafting. Specifically, legal issues related to vendor contracts, compliance programs, litigation, commercial lease disputes, the annual proxy report, and corporate disclosures. Chris created a system to streamline and organize the company’s corporate disclosure and proxy documents, business formation documents, board of director reports, etc. for its main company and subsidiaries.

Chris worked as a law clerk for a Jacksonville based personal injury firm. Chris worked in every pre-suit capacity and loved his interactions with clients. Chris connected with clients and was the client’s first direct contact with the firm.  This experience allowed Chris to see the needs of clients and importance of effective communication. This early experience exposed Chris to personal injury negotiation and effective pre-suit tactics.

Chris worked as an attorney and law clerk for a boutique insurance coverage, business, and consumer litigation firm. Chris handled his own caseload with limited assistance. Chris practiced federal and state consumer law, business litigation, federal interpleader action, life insurance disputes, and wrongful death. Chris litigated and assisted with litigation in many jurisdictions, including: state courts across the State of Florida, federal court litigation and/or multi-district litigation in FL, GA, and CA, and cases in arbitration (JAMS and AAA).
